Glass Fusion Community Art Project

Glass Fusion Community Art Project

REGISTER

Join us this spring as we partner with Rick Findora on a Glass Fusion Community Art Project. Rick is a local artist who specializes in art made out of glass, wood, steel, and wrought iron. He's designed a fusible stained-glass tree that we plan to hang in a front window of our library when the project is complete.

We Need Your Help

In order to make this community art project, Rick has created 14 sections in the tree design. We want 14 kids (grade 2 through grade 8) to create their own designs that Rick will then fuse into the larger art piece. Our art piece will have a floral or garden theme, but there will be creative freedom for each artist.

We've scheduled three workshops (two on Saturdays, one on a Monday afternoon/evening). A parent or guardian is encouraged to join the workshop with their child. You will only need to attend one workshop.

How Do the Workshops Work?

Rick will explain the basics of glass fusion, describing the process and guiding participants through the completion of the piece. He'll show the artists how to create a design using glass shapes (or create a shape of their own). All supplies are provided. Each workshop has room for 4 or 5 young artists (and their parent/guardians). The workshops are slated to last two to three hours, but if you get done early, then you can leave when you'd like.

How to Sign Up?

Workshops will be filled on a first-come/first-served basis, so sign up for all the workshops that you can make, because if you are late to sign up for one date, then you might make the cut on another date. We have 14 total spots open. Workshops will take place in the Program Room at the library (130 Lodi Street, Lodi, WI 53555).

Saturday, May 10th from 10 am to 1 pm

Saturday, May 24th from 10 am to 1 pm

Monday, June 2nd from 4 pm to 7 pm

Community art projects bring people together and strengthen local bonds. They also make our world more beautiful and promote creativity.
